Parts for sale:

‘74-’76 Honda MT250 Elsinore

Whilst many parts for the Honda MT250 are still available from Honda Dealers, there are

a few notable exceptions and over the years I have been lucky enough to locate a number of

them when I was rebuilding my bikes, but with a change of plan and the bikes now sold I have decided to sell the spare parts on.

If you want anything listed here, use the ‘Send Email’ link, fill in the form and I will get back to you.

Note: Anything ‘NOS’ means New Old Stock, i.e. brand new original old Honda Dealer parts.

Also... Please be aware : All parts are located in Sydney, Australia... and can be shipped worldwide.

Preferred payment is by bank transfer, paypal (gift) by negotiation.

1974 - 1976 Honda MT250 NOS Side panel / cover,

Honda part no. 83640-358-000

This is a very rare panel, anyone restoring an old bike will always struggle to find decent plastic, this is especially true for 70s off road bikes. Sadly for these parts, it was a time when plastic was a new thing so they can be brittle, but like the bikes themselves they were seen as somewhat disposable and Honda stopped making them in the 80s, probably because that type of plastic isnt something youre allowed to make now.

I have not seen one of these for sale for a very long time, these side panels have been 'no longer available' or 'NLA' from Honda for many many years so this is indeed a rare item. Naturally it is painted silver in the correct shade Honda used at the time which is not as shiny as the modern clear coated paints that are used on plastic panels today. Saying that, you may have noticed the darker colour in the first photo which is not a paint problem, it is the reflection of the trees from where the photo was taken.

This side panel is unused, it does not come in the original packaging and has no decal (that's how they were back in the day) and being old dealer stock it does has a few small marks from the last 30+ years of storage which whilst they do not show in the photos I wanted to mention, this is an old stock plastic part and as such these were not made with modern plastics and the paint is laid directly on the plastic which leads to some paint anomalies even from new, That said - it's very good for an original Honda dirt bike panel, but its not like a crisp and clean glossy modern item, enough said, its NOS...

May also fit MT125, i dont have one but someone emailed as suggested that it would fit that bike and also and some SL, XL, MR models. You should check first of course as I cannot verify that information.

Price is Au$175 + shipping.

Whilst this isnt a cheap part but it could complete your restoration... be quick... where will you find another one, I think this is the last one available worldwide, seriously.

Very rare NOS original Honda MT250 swing arm pivot collar and new bronze bushes.

Honda part no. 52141-358-770

For sale is New Old Stock Honda MT250 swingarm pivot collar and bronze bushes, all are unused and brand new in their packets and protective wrappers. All these parts are either OEM honda or American made, and all will fit perfectly.

These collars (the large hardened steel bearing bush that runs through the swingarm pivot, and the swingarm bolt runs through it) have been out of stock from Honda for many years and I bought the last two of these I could find worldwide through a specialised Honda parts dealer a while back, as I was restoring two MTs at the time but the second project didn’t happen and so I only needed one set so now the other set is listed here to help someone else be able to keep their bike on the road (or the trails!).

You should be aware that there were two collars fitted the MT250 over the years, so please check this is the correct part number for your bike - there are plenty of online parts books. This is the (slightly) longer of the two types. Neither are available from dealers even thought some parts sites list them but they dont actually have them and cannot get them, I know as i asked most of them when i was looking for this part.

When I got my MT250 it handed ok, but i could see the bike had has little maintenance and these parts are all that the pivot rides on when soaking up the bumps. When I drove out my old collar it was rusted solid and the replacement was more than needed, yours is most likely the same after all these years.

The kit I am selling here is complete with CNC modern bronze bushes, made by a guy in the USA to exacting specs, to replace the nasty OEM plastic based originals that will very much be worn on your bike if your collar has been eaten by rust as that just chews through the parts.

This is a complete kit to redo your swingarm, just bash out the old collar and bushes and fit these, clean and reuse your end caps and refit to get the pivot back to OEM specs and your handling back to how it should be.

Price is Au$195 + shipping.

NOS PARTS

1974 - 1976 Honda MT250 NOS Petrol / Gas tank.

Honda part no. 17500-358-770 - very very rare!

I have not seen one of these for sale for a very long time... these petrol tanks have been 'no longer available' or 'NLA' from Honda for many many years so this is indeed a rare item. Naturally it is painted silver with red and black stripes in the correct shade Honda used at the time which is not as shiny as the modern clear coated paints that are used today. Saying that, its better than the plastic parts Honda panited back then!

This fuel tank is unused, it does not come in the original packaging and has the decals fitted as thats how Honda supplied them, and being old dealer stock it does has a few very very small marks from the last 30+ years of storage one very small scratch in the red which is minscule I have shown in the photos I wanted to mention. It also has the special tape still fitted to the underside where the fuel tap fits but sadly has lost the cover for the cap. the tank is really nice and way nicer than the tank i had painted for my own restoration, you really do get a much nicer job when Honda do it at the factory!

Please do check the photos, amazing to find one in this condition!

Price is Au$1250 + shipping.

1974 - 1976 Honda MT250 Cylinders and heads - I have a few!

I have a number of MT250 cylinders in varying condition, some have snapped bolts and rusty re-bores, some are really very nice with no damage and standard bore. Naturally, I would recommend a rebore or hone on all of them and a clean up. Heads range from cut fins (for bigger pipes) to close on mint.

These also fit the CR250 from 1973 & 1974 and will work with the CR head. They wont have the power of the CR of course, but I was told that these days tuners rework these MT cylinders for a better porting that suits the CR to give a motor that is no longer stuck in the 70s with its old ‘all or nothing’ CR porting and is more ridable for those with older, more fragile bodies. Sadly I am no expert in this work and you will need to research it, I was just told about it, have a google and chat to some VMX guys.

Contact me with your requirements and I will see what I can find and to let you know the bore sizes left.

Price range is Au$75 (rough cylinders) - Au$150 (low bore). Some

with pistons or head fins cut. Heads from $40. (all plus shipping)

1974 - 1976 Honda MT250 Front mudguard / fender

This is a very rare panel, anyone restoring an old dirt bike will always struggle to find decent plastic, this is especially true for 70s off road bikes. This front guard has been repainted before I received it and it looks good with only a few small marks from storage which whilst they do not show in the photos I wanted to mention, this is an old plastic part and as such these were not made with modern plastics and the paint was originally laid directly on the plastic which leads to some paint anomalies even from new.
